More than just a heater for the Surface Finishing Industry, TOMTECH is an autonomous heating system, bringing groundbreaking safety, efficiency, and unparalleled control to your plating operation. Process Technology will debut TOMTECH this week at SUR/FIN 2022.
WILLOUGHBY, Ohio , June 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Leveraging the power of IoT, TOMTECH is a heating system that operates autonomously without external controls in an easy set-and-forget mode. "Imagine real-time tank monitoring at your fingertips from any smart device," says Phil Bearden , Director of NPD. "Using your device, each heater can be programmed and set up to run automatically, sending immediate email alerts of undesirable conditions. We've also designed multiple redundant layers of safety to ensure heaters won't operate if any safety system fails or is bypassed. Using the power of SOC, Wi-Fi connectivity, and proprietary firmware that we developed for the Surface Finishing Industry, which has unique safety challenges and operational needs, we have brought a new level of control and monitoring." Proprietary IoT technology makes TOMTECH a feature-rich, easy-to-use solution for companies that are invested or want to invest in Smart Manufacturing (Manufacturing 4.0) to increase uptime, improve quality, and lower the total cost of ownership with assured safety. "TOMTECH represents my father's philosophy and passion for making things great. It's fitting that the platform be named after him. Long after he retired, he was constantly bringing new inventions and ideas for improvements to our products. He would have been thrilled with this launch," says Jody Richards , President of Process Technology. Additional product specifications:

In 1851, Charles Babbage, the English mathematician and inventor, found himself preoccupied with what might happen should coal mines—then and now one of the primary sources of usable energy—become depleted. Babbage was talking about tides, those lunar-guided movements of the world’s oceans, and the very synonym of dependable constancy. Lately, however, buoyed by successful demonstration projects and a new interest in renewable energy bolstered even further by Europe’s anticipated turning off of Russian taps, tidal energy is moving increasingly into the mainstream.

LONDON (Reuters) -Officials from some G7 countries, including Germany and Britain, will push for temporary waivers on biofuels mandates to combat soaring food prices when leaders from the group of wealthy nations meet on Sunday, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters. The food crisis caused by the war in Ukraine has sparked a food versus biofuel debate, with some policymakers calling for an easing of mandates for blending biofuels into petrol and diesel to increase the supply of global grain and vegetable oil. "We're quite keen to look at the issue of biofuel mandates to ensure that crops are prioritised for food consumption and not necessarily for use in fuels," a British government official told Reuters.

(Reuters) -U.S. President Joe Biden rarely mentions electric car maker Tesla Inc in public. The Biden administration contacted Tesla on its first day in office, marking the start of a series of meetings on the topic between federal officials and companies linked to the EV industry over the months that followed, according to the emails. The administration's early and extensive outreach reflects that expanding the scope of the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to make it a tool for electrifying the nation's automobile fleet is one of Biden's priorities in the fight against climate change.

Gold prices end lower on Thursday, stretching losses into a fourth straight session, while recession fears contribute to copper's fall to its lowest prices since February 2021.
Gold futures edged up on Friday, but posted a loss of 0.6% for the week, as copper prices suffered their largest weekly drop since June of last year. "Gold remains trapped in a range as traders await to see if the latest inflation reports will force the [Federal Reserve] into committing to more massive rate hikes beyond the July policy meeting," said Edward Moya, senior market analyst at OANDA. Meanwhile, worries about an economic recession continued to feed expectations for a drop in copper dem
This study focuses on a relatively obscure feature of the investment industry—the large increase over the last two decades in the average pension fund’s allocation to so-called alternative investments such as hedge funds and private equity. By applying a series of complex statistical tests, they concluded that a major determinant of a given pension fund’s decision to establish an allocation to alternative investments was whether other pension funds in the same geographical region were doing so themselves.

Brazil's central bank is aiming for inflation in 2023 "around" the 3.25% target but less than 4%, its chief, Roberto Campos Neto, said on Thursday, as policymakers hike interest rates to cool surging consumer prices in Latin America's largest economy. When it raised its key interest rate to 13.25% last week and penciled in another hike for August, the central bank said it was looking to ensure inflation next year converged "around the target" rather than "to its target." "Around is less than 4%, just to make that very clear," Campos Neto said in an online news conference.
Enanta Pharmaceuticals (ENTA) filed a lawsuit against Pfizer (PFE) over Paxlovid, alleging that the COVID-19 antiviral expected to bring in $22 billion in sales this year is based on a patent first filed by Enanta scientists. The suit, which was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts, alleges that Enanta filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office “describing coronavirus protease inhibitors invented by Enanta scientists” in July 2020. Pfizer’s patent for Paxlovid appears to have been filed three months later, and Enanta’s patent “does appear to cover the chemical space Paxlovid is in,” RBC Capital Markets analyst Brian Abrahams told investors this week.
